The Numbers Don't Lie
7.4 million adults in the U.S. live with developmental disabilities.
Of these 5.5 million have autism.
Just like any other adult, people with DD long to lead purposeful lives and belong to a larger community.
85% of adults with a developmental disability are unemployed.
Those who are lucky enough to have employment usually earn minimum wage or below.
This makes the dream of living outside the family home almost impossible.
Only 45% of adults with I/DD have access to publicly funded support. Currently, 80,000 are on a wait list.

For some their primary caregivers are parents who are aging. 20% live with a parent over the age of 60. In addition, there is a nationwide shortage of service providers to aid those who need extra support.
